Did you ever see a big bright-colored balloon floating through the sky? Did you wish you could be up there, drifting through the clouds?
In this book you can go ballooning with Megan. You'll see what makes the balloon go up and sail high above fields and farms. You'll touch the treetops and soon land softly and safely. Then you can turn back to the beginning and go ballooning all over again!
Ballon Ride was an important book for me because it helped me conquer one of my greatest fears the fear of heights! I had several ideas for a transportation photoessay (as a sequel to Steam Train Ride) when my editor suggested that I do a book about hot air balloons. I was immediately mortified but said that I would be happy to do it. Somehow, I overcame my fears and took a bunch of balloon rides (with shaking knees and chattering teeth) at one thousand feet. On one occasion, I was so scared that I even forgot how to operate my camera!
